MDMS in healthcare

The MDMS system is a data management system designed by MEGA-doc n.v. that aims to meet the challenges faced in a hospital laboratory environment. MDMS provides solutions for the three main challenges of Laboratory Information System (LIS) or Hospital Information System (HIS) connectivity, ensuring data accuracy, and electronic document management.

In meeting these challenges, MDMS provides seamless integration between the LIS or HIS, and the BD™ Flow Cytometry instruments. This interface is based on industry standards, providing flexible, reliable bi-directional communication to support an efficient laboratory workflow.

This automation in turn helps to achieve excellent levels of data accuracy by reducing the amount of manual data entry required. MDMS features provide additional functionality for reducing data errors, such as automated result calculation and result format conversions. Validation of result accuracy by a specialist is ensured through the result approval process.

To ensuring overall control of laboratory data, MDMS is a fully functional document management system for documents produced by BD Flow Cytometry instruments and software. The system allows for storage, query and reporting on a full testing history, including original data files and a history of re-analysis and re-runs. MDMS provides an organized, long-term storage solution for all testing data, allowing a level of detail not maintained in the LIS/HIS environment.
